Successful flood alleviation in Staunton and Corse

In partnership with the Highways Department at Gloucestershire County Council, we have recently undertaken extensive work to alleviate flooding along the A417 in Corse. Work has also been completed in Moat Lane and Ledbury Road Crescent, in the neighbouring parish of Staunton. The work has involved laying new pipe work and improvements to roadside drainage ditches.

Following the recent work, the District Council received a letter of thanks from Liz Morgan, Clerk to the Parish Council of Staunton. She pointed out: ‘The residents…are delighted to now hear the rainwater rushing away through the underground pipes, rather than lapping against their doorsteps!’

Cllr. Martin Quaile, Cabinet member for the Environment, added: ‘Protecting and improving the environment is one of our key priorities, so I’m very pleased that, working with the County Council, we’ve been able to implement these improvements successfully for the residents of Corse and Staunton.’
